I have just finished making this ash jewellery box. It is a commission for a gentleman who wanted it as a birthday present for his daughter-in-law.
This box is based on the ‘Little sister’ design that I first made a few years ago. I had a piece of English walnut and I made a large jewellery box. There was just enough wood left over to make a second box. Two jewellery boxes from one piece of wood, two sisters.
Here are pictures of this box taken in the workshop, hot off the press!
The piece of ash I used had a really striking ripple running through the grain. As the box is viewed from different angles, the ripple pattern changes.
Inside the box is a single lift out jewellery storage tray that is made from American walnut.
Both the box and the tray are lined with a purple faux suede.
