English walnut jewellery box
Made from English walnut and with lift out storage trays from ash, this box was a commission as a present for an 18th birthday.
The piece of wood that was used to make the box lid was chosen because the grain pattern influenced the shape and position of the handle - the grain flows towards the handle.
With three lift out trays, there is ample space to store items of jewellery. When all three trays are in the box, there is space below the lower tray for the storage of necklaces or chains.
The trays and the bottom of the box have purple felt linings.
Materials: English walnut and ash, with an oil and wax finish. Purple felt linings.
