English walnut jewellery box - 'big sister'

A couple of years ago, I purchased a plank of English walnut from someone who was selling off some of his stock. I could see the wood had a wonderful grain pattern, and could be made into something special.

The grain pattern in the timber was wild, and areas of light sapwood gave interesting contrasts and features that helped me in the design of this jewellery box. I used the swirl pattern and grain direction in the design of the lid and handle.

The box has three removable trays, each tray having a different combination of dividing compartments. The trays and the box are lined with purple suede.

I called this box ‘big sister’, as there was enough timber to make another 'little sister' jewellery box.

Materials: English walnut and ash, with an oil and wax finish. Suede linings.

Size: 120mm (h) x 300mm (w) x 200mm (d).

Price: Sold.
